Self-Defense Lesson #101 – Don’t Mess with Alison Hess

Today, the 2Shea team took a self-defense class courtesy of Kristi Morris. We recently designed a new website for Kristi’s PR/Marketing firm. In exchange, Kristi helped us to create a new marketing plan, plus a super bonus, she instructed us in a self defense class. Yes, Kristi is a woman of all trades, not only is she a marketing and PR expert, she is also a black-belt in Tae Kwon Do and a kick-butt self-defense instructor. So, what did we learn today. We learned how to throw a punch, what to do when someone grabs you from behind, and… Don’t ever mess with our designer Alison, she may seem quiet and shy, but she’s one tough cookie!

Discovery Riders Mural

Giving Back

Our designers Jessie & Amanda have been giving back to the community by volunteering to paint a mural for Discovery Riders. Discovery Riders, Inc., is a non-profit, therapeutic equestrian learning and riding experience in Logan County, Ohio, for young people with special emotional needs, communication disorders, physical challenges and/or learning disabilities.

Jessie & Amanda designed the mural in a “cartoonish” style to appeal to the kids in the Discovery Riders program. This mural will brighten up the viewing room in the barn, where the families watch their children participate in the program.

2Shea is also donating the artwork used in the mural to redesign the Discovery Rider’s website.

Very funny animation for cat lovers

Great series of creative animation shorts on YouTube that my son directed me to. The series is called “Simon’s Cat”, created by Simon Tofield, a professional animator in England. Our designer Jessie went to “jail” today for good! She was part of a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Thanks to your generous donations Jessie raised over $800 and was released on good behavior. Thanks to everyone who donated! : )

Jessie Shea is going behind bars for good!

HELP! Our designer Jessie is being put behind bars for “good”! She’ll be locked in “Jail” (a.k.a. made to sit in the Bag of Nails Pub) and FORCED to eat bar food for two hours while she awaits bail money! Oh the horror!

What has she done to deserve this you ask? She has made a pledge to raise $1,600 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Jessie’s trip to “jail” is a step towards safeguarding you or a loved one from being one of the million or so Americans, stricken with one of the many forms of muscle and nerve disease that the Muscular Dystrophy Association is trying to eradicate.

The MDA is run, almost completely, by the money it receives from private donors, and 78.4 cents of every dollar goes directly into research, services and education. Some of the programs and services offered by the MDA include the purchase of wheel chairs, facilitation of support groups, education, research and more!
